The following 2010 Property Tax rates are in cents based upon $100 of assessed value:


General Purpose 4.440
Street Lights 0.300
Fire Protection 0.300
Debt Service 0.200
Parks & Recreation 0.300

Ambler collects the 0.5% it is entitled from the Employment Income Tax (EIT)." Borough residents must file an annual Earned Income Tax form with CENTAX, the collection agent. Forms can be downloaded here or picked up at the Borough Building during business hours.

Anyone working in Ambler Borough and earning over $12,000 per year is subject to the Local Services Tax (LST). The tax is $52.00 per year. See the Documents and Forms section for further information.


RESOLUTION 2009-01

 

BOROUGH OF AMBLER

 

 

A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING FEES for the filing of application, permits, licenses and violation fines for the Borough of Ambler pursuant to the enabling provisions of existing Borough Ordinances and Regulations. 

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, and it is hereby resolved by the Council of the Borough of Ambler that all fees are hereby fixed as follows: 

 

ABANDONED CAR (Private):  $75 on notice and $75 for each                                                          additional 24 hours (CE)

 

ALARM SYSTEMS:  

            Call types (Ticket) -

$100 for connection permit, review of plan for first 2,500 square feet with $10 each additional 1,000 square feet. 

 

            False Alarm (Ticket) -

3 false alarms per year, no ticket. 

4th & 5th false alarm, $150 ticket.

6th false alarm or more, $300 ticket.

 

AMBLER BOROUGH WEED ORDINANCE (Ticket): 

            $50 every 24 hours. 

 

AMBLER BOROUGH SNOW ORDINANCE (Ticket): 

            $50 every 24 hours. 

 

AMUSEMENT DEVICES: 

$100 per each pinball/amusement device per year. 

Music Devices (Jukebox) - $75 per machine per year. 

Recreation Devices  (Portable) - $50 per year, $5 per day. 

 

ADMISSION LIVE (Theater, movies): 

            10 percent of admission fee. 

 

ANIMALS: 

Exotic Animals - $250 per animal per year. 

Recreational Use - $10 per day. 

 

ANNUAL RENTAL/INSPECTION FEES: 

Residential –

$30 per unit per year. 

 

Non-Residential –

First 1,000 sq ft                       $40 per year

1,001 – 3,000 sq ft                  $60 per year

3,001 – 5,001 sq ft                  $85 per year

5,001 – 10,000 sq ft                $120 per year

10,001 – 20,000 sq ft              $160 per year

Over 20,000 sq ft                    $260 plus $60 each additional                                                10,000 sq ft over 20,000 sq ft

(Construction, Renovation, Additions): 

Commercial, Triplex or Greater –  

$500 plus $0.25 per sq ft

One & Two Family Structures -     

$250 plus $0.15 per sq ft

Demolition Permit -                          

$125 plus $0.10 per sq ft

Shed, Cabana, Playhouse, Etc. -     

$25 plus $0.15 per sq ft up to 99 sq ft

 $50 plus $0.15 per sq ft up to 199 sq ft 

Detached Private Garage

 Or Shed Over 200 sq ft –

$100 plus $0.15 per sq ft

Swimming Pools (Above Ground) -

$50 plus $0.15 per sq ft

Swimming Pools (In Ground) –

$100 plus $0.25 per sq ft

 

(Construction, Roofing, Siding, Renovations, Parking Lots, Driveways, Window Replacement): 

Commercial, Triplex or Greater –

            $50 for first $1,000; $25 each additional $3,000       construction cost (labor and materials)

One & Two Family Structures –

            $50 for first $5,000; $25 each additional $5,000       construction cost (labor and materials) 

 

CLEANING: 

Self Service Laundry (coin op) - $5 per machine per year

Dry Cleaning (coin op) - $5 per machine per year

Combination Laundry/Dry Cleaning –

$5 per machine per year

 

CURB & SIDEWALK PERMIT (Covers inspection cost): 

            $25 up to 50 linear feet. 

 

DEBRIS DEPOSIT IN PUBLIC STREET (leaves, snow, grass cuttings or other material (Ticket): 

$50 per violation plus clean up cost. 

 

DUMPSTERS (In public street only): 

$75 per container for three weeks.  Lighted barricades required. 

 

EATING HOUSE LICENSE/HEALTH INSPECTION: 

$75 per year for first 50 seats.  $100 per year for 51-100 seats.  $150 per year for over 101 seats.  $50 per seat for third health inspection violation.

 

LICENSES (Contractor, Electrical, Plumber): 

Contractor –

Non-Technical License - $75 per year plus Certificate of Insurance. 

 

Electrical Contractor (Certified Registration Required) –

Master Electrician (L), Chief Plant Electrician, Oil Burner Service Technician, Refrigeration Service Technician, Alarm System Technician  - $100 per year plus Certificate of Insurance.  Journeyman or Apprentice in all above trades - $75 per year.  (License renewal registration one-half original rate if renewed in consecutive year.) 

 

Plumbing (Certified Registration Required) –

Master Plumber - $100 per year plus Certificate of Insurance.  Journeyman - $50 per year.  Limited certificate of registration - $30.  (License renewal registration one-half original rate if renewed in consecutive year.) 

Plumbing Fees –

Each fixture installed or removed - $20

Installation of Sewer Lateral (re-inspection new charge) - $75

Repairs to Sewer Lateral or Internal Stack) (re-inspection new charge) - $75

Disposal systems - $75

 

Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) (Certified Registration Required) –

Master HVAC - $100 per year plus Certificate of Insurance. 

HVAC Fees –

$50 for first $1,000; $25 each additional $3,000

 

PARKING: 

Residential Parking - $25 per year on metered street (est. by Council, one permit per address) 

 

Violation of Parking Rules –

Parking meter violation - $12

Parking within times prohibited for purposes

            of street cleaning -$12

Exceeding 2 hour parking time - $15

Double parking - $15

Parking within an intersection - $15

Parking where signs prohibit parking - $15

Parking on a sidewalk - $15

Parking on an area walk - $15

In front of a public/private driveway - $15

Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant - $25

Within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection - $20

Within 30 feet upon the approach of any of the following: 

             flashing signal, stop or yield sign or traffic control    

              signal located at the site of a roadway - $15

Within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to any fire station - $20

Within 50 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing - $15

Parking more than 12 inches from the curb - $15

 

POLE PERMIT (Removal/Replacement):  $100 per pole. 

 

POSTER/PLACARD PLACEMENT (Within a Right-of-Way): 

$150 per event (with $140 refundable within 72 hours of event and all signs removed). 

 

PUBLIC SWIMMING POOL:

$200 per year per pool (3 inspections) with $100 each additional inspection. 

 

REAL ESTATE SIGNS (Other than property): 

            $25 per day per sign. 

 

RENTAL (NO PARKING SIGNS): 

            $25 per sign (with $20 refundable upon return of signs). 

 

RENTAL (REAL ESTATE) INSPECTION FEES: 

Residential – $30 per unit per inspection. 

 

Non-Residential –

First 1,000 sq ft                                   $40 per unit per inspection

1,001 – 3,000 sq ft                  $60 per unit per inspection

3,001 – 5,001 sq ft                  $85 per unit per inspection

5,001 – 10,000 sq ft                $120 per unit per inspection

RESIDENTIAL RENTAL REGISTRATION: 

            $30 per unit per year

 

SALES: 

Door-to-Door/Street Sales - $10 per person per day

Fixed Locations (stands) - $100 per year

Transient Merchants - $100 per year

Weekly Day Permits - $50

Day Permits (parades, etc.) - $10 per person per day

 

SEWER TAPPING FEES:

            $2,508.00 per EDU of capacity required for connection. 

 

SHOPPING CARTS, TIRES, AUTO PARTS, JUNK STORAGE (Ticket): 

$25 per inspection (or cart found on public right of way) plus $50 per day storage charge. 

 

SIGNS: 

Erection/Altercation - $50 per sign

Sidewalk Display Sign (Ticket)- $25 per violation per day

Banners (30 day limit) (Ticket for failure

            to remove) - $75 per violation per day 

 

SPRINKLER SYSTEMS (Fire): 

$100 connection review first 2,500 sq ft with $2.50 each additional each additional 100 sq ft (Any cost for Borough consultant not covered by the permit will be billed to the applicant). 

 

STORAGE TANKS: 

$100 each 1,000 gallon tank capacity (FM).  All cleanup cost from spills to be done by owner. 

 

STREET EXCAVATION: 

$100 per 100 foot parallel to curb.  Emergency street excavation (5 years from paving date) - $500 per opening of a 100 foot parallel to curb.

 

SUBDIVISION & LAND DEVELOPMENT: 

Preliminary Plan Filing Fee - $150 plus $20 per unit (lot)   for each additional 1,000 square feet. 

Engineering Services – at cost

Materials & Facilities Tests – at cost

Dedication Legal Fees – at cost

Overall Legal Fees – at cost

 

USE & OCCUPANCY (Upon sale, change of occupancy or business owner or renovation):

Residential - $75 per dwelling with

                      $50 each additional unit. 

Non-Residential - $75 per first 2,500 sq ft with $50 each additional 1,000 sq ft (this includes one revisit.  A third visit will be treated as a new application). 

 

WELLS (Private):  $75 annual inspection fee

 

YARD/GARAGE SALES:

$15 permit plus $15 off-site sign deposit (refunded if signed removed within 72 hours of event) 

 

ZONING (Upon sale, change of occupancy or business owner or renovation):

Residential - $75 per dwelling

with $50 each additional unit. 

Non-Residential - $75 per first 2,500 sq ft with $50 each additional 1,000 sq ft (this includes one revisit.  A third visit will be treated as a new application). 

 

ZONING HEARING BOARD: 

Hearing – Residential $500; Non-Residential $1,000. 

Engineering, Legal, Technical Support Fees – at cost. 

BOCA Hearing (various codes) – Residential $500;

            Non-Residential $1,000 plus costs

Conditional Use Hearing (Council) – Residential $500;     Non-Residential $1,000 plus costs
